FULL SPECTRUM 2012 | FUND-A-NEED

  •

For every thought-provoking exhibition, stimulating lecture, free community day, and educational school program that the San Jose Museum of Art presents, there are lights to hang, sound systems to maintain, art supplies to buy, and teacher resources to produce. Your additional gift to the Fund-a-Need auction allows SJMA to immediately and directly apply the funds where they are needed the most. The behind-the-scenes costs may be invisible to our visitors, but are crucial to bring to our community the exhibitions and programs that celebrate new ideas, stimulate creativity, and inspire connection to the art of our time. Did you know?:

    • $25 buys one box of cotton gloves, essential to safely handle artworks
    • $50 buys art supplies for 30 students in a Two-Part Art program
    • $100 buys a box of clear tape for packing multiple works of art for storage or transport
    • $200 pays a local artist to teach one DIY Art workshop
    • $250 provides a storyteller for one Community Day event
    • $350 covers the costs of shipping one large painting for a special exhibition
    • $650 buys drawing paper for one year of artists’ residencies in Santa Clara County schools
    • $1,000 buys furniture for an in-gallery reading area
    • $5,000 buys an LCD projector for video or new-media exhibits

We hope that you--every single person who attends Full Spectrum 2012--will raise your number during the Fund-a-Need auction and show that you support art and arts education in a welcoming and thought-provoking environment. Thank you.
