The Museum is open 11 AM–8 PM on the third Thursday of each month.

The Museum is closed on Thanksgiving (Nov 28), Christmas Day (Dec 25), and New Year's Day (Jan 1).
The Museum is open 11 AM–3 PM on Christmas Eve (Dec 24) and New Year’s Eve (Dec 31).

- Third Thursdays: $5 after 5 PM
- Free admission to active members of the military and their families from Memorial Day weekend (May 26) to Labor Day weekend (September 7).
Public tours of exhibitions are offered Tuesday–Sunday at 1 and 2:30PM. All visitors are welcome to drop in on these tours, which meet in the Museum lobby. To arrange a special time for an adult group tour of six or more, please call 408.291.5393 at least three weeks in advance.
In addition to joining free docent-led tours, you are invited to participate in art-making activities in the galleries. We have paper and pencils and clipboards available for your use. Just ask about these supplies at the SJMA Admission Desk, and visit the Learn section for more information about in-gallery learning activities.

Visitors are permitted to take non-flash snapshots for their personal use only in permanent collection galleries. Photos of the Museum’s architecture and public spaces such as the lobby and café are also permitted.
Photography of any kind is not permitted in special exhibitions unless otherwise noted.
Please comply with any posted signs or staff instructions regarding photography.
Professional equipment such as tripods, external lighting, and large detachable lenses are not permitted. Reproduction of works of art in print or in digital media (including audio and video), beyond reasonable sharing via personal social media, is not permitted. Under no circumstances may photos of works of art taken at SJMA be sold in any format, including digital format, without express written permission of the copyright holder (which may include the artist, artist’s heirs, or other parties).
