Children and Families

  • A woman with brown hair in pig tales wearing a blue hat and a pink shirt is smiling next to a smiling child wearing a blue tank top writing in a book. They are in a room filled with tables and art supplies. Other children and adults are in the distance.

When your family comes to SJMA you bring a myriad of interests, ideas, and questions about the art on view. We meet that mix with innovative hands-on gallery activities and other family programs, like special free community days, to make the art more accessible and engaging for everybody. We also have programs geared specifically for teens who are refining their interest in the visual arts and finding their own creative process.

The Koret Gallery features a selection of thematically linked artworks from the Museum’s permanent collection, accompanied by multi-sensory activities that link daily experiences with the transformational experiences of dramatic play, interpretation, and creation. This family-friendly space contains a fully immersive experience designed to inspire creativity and support the inquiry process.
