When your family comes to SJMA you bring a myriad of interests, ideas, and questions about the art on view. We meet that mix with innovative hands-on gallery activities and other family programs, like special free community days, to make the art more accessible and engaging for everybody. We also have programs geared specifically for teens who are refining their interest in the visual arts and finding their own creative process. And of course anyone can take the free iPod Touch Gallery Tour, which comes with the price of admission.
The Koret Gallery features a selection of thematically linked artworks from the Museum’s permanent collection, accompanied by multi-sensory activities that link daily experiences with the transformational experiences of dramatic play, interpretation, and creation. This family-friendly space contains a fully immersive experience designed to inspire creativity and support the inquiry process.

Kids Summer Art Camp 2010 – SOLD OUT!
Who: For children ages 6–11 (camps are divided by age groups: 6–8 & 9–11)
What: Join us for a week of fun and creativity at the Museum this summer. Learn drawing, painting, and sculpting techniques and use a variety of art media!
These full-day camps offer in-depth art experiences for South Bay youth. Led by Museum faculty and inspired by our current exhibitions, the Museum’s popular Summer Art Camps teach kids how to look at, talk about and create their own art. Each student receives an art kit containing all the supplies they will need, and the camp culminates in a one-day public exhibition of student work. Young artists will explore drawing, painting and sculpting techniques as they visit the galleries to gather inspiration from exhibited artwork. Campers will look for stories within the art as they study formal elements such as line, shape, color, and texture.
When: July 19, 2010 through August 6, 2010, Monday – Friday, 9:30 am – 4:30 pm. The week-long camp is offered three times this summer.
Week 1: July 19 – 23, (student exhibition July 24)
