Parking is available at open pay lots on San Fernando between Market Street and First Street, First and Second Streets, and Second and Third Streets. Underground parking is available in the Knight Ridder building. Look for the blue and white "P" sign on San Fernando between Market and First Streets.

Save on Parking!!!

Up to 40 minutes of validated parking is available with a nominal purchase in either the Museum Store or Cafe. Be sure to park in a lot displaying the "Pv" symbol (be careful - some of the privately owned parking facilities downtown do not honor the validation stamps). Visit www.sjdowntownparking.com for the latest list of places to park. Free parking is available weekends and evenings at some locations - just look for the "Park Free" signs.

Note: Members at the $300 level and above, receive 2 hours of free parking without a nominal purchase.

From 280 (North or South)
- 280 to the Downtown San Jose Exits
- Take 87/Guadalupe Parkway North
- Exit at Santa Clara Street
- Turn right onto Santa Clara
- Go straight five blocks to Market Street
- Turn right onto Market Street
- Go straight two blocks to San Fernando Street
- Turn left on San Fernando Street to park*

From 101 Going South
- Take 101 South to the 87/Guadalupe Parkway exit
- From 87 take the Park Avenue exit
- Turn left onto Park Avenue
- Go straight one block to Almaden Boulevard
- Turn left on Almaden Boulevard
- Go straight one block to San Fernando Street
- Turn right on San Fernando Street
- Go straight two blocks to Market Street
- Museum is located at the corner of San Fernando and Market Streets
- Continue past the Museum on San Fernando to find parking*

From 101 Going North
- From 101 take the 280 NORTH/Downtown San Jose exit
- Take 280 North to 87/Guadalupe Parkway North
- From 87 North take the Santa Clara Street exit
-Turn right onto Santa Clara Street
- Go straight five blocks to Market Street
- Turn right on Market Street
- Go straight two blocks to San Fernando Street

From 17/880 Going South
- Take the Coleman Avenue exit
- Take the left fork back over the freeway
- Coleman becomes Market Street
- Turn left on San Fernando to park*

Directions from the Train Station (Caltrain)

The Museum is a 15 minute/.75 mile walk from the Diridon station. Exit the station and turn right, then left onto San Fernando Street. The Museum is located at the corner of Market and San Fernando Streets. There is also a free DASH shuttle on the weekdays that runs near the Museum on Santa Clara street. VTA Buses (routes 63 & 65) provide service a block from the Museum (San Fernando & 1st).

Directions for Light Rail

Exit at the Santa Clara Street stop. Walk to San Fernando Street, then walk west, toward Market Street. The Museum is located on the corner of San Fernando and Market Streets.

Directions for VTA Bus Travel

The Museum is served by numerous bus lines. You may call VTA at (408)321-2300 or visit www.vta.org for schedule and route information.

The downtown parking web site, www.sjdowntownparking.com, is now available. The site features an interactive map, free parking and validation information, directions to downtown, a parking survey and local links. The interactive map offers detailed information on individual parking facilities, such as hours and rates, and recommended parking for select downtown destinations, including SJMA. Visitors can also find public transit information. Directions to downtown from anywhere in the Bay Area are also available. The web site is a partnership between the City of San Jose's Department of Streets and Traffic, the Redevelopment Agency and the San Jose Downtown Association.
